The left government again showed the dark side of the police-raj. K. Surendran the BJP leader had arrested the way to Sabarimala with “irumudikettu” (holy offering).
The police on Saturday took BJP leader K. Surendran into preventive custody after he attempted to enter Sabarimala through the check-post at Nilackal, the base camp 26 km downhill from the forest shrine.
A police team led by Superintendent of Police Yatish Chanda hustled him away in a patrol van to the district police headquarters at Pathanamthitta at 7.20 p.m.
Chittar police registered an FIR against K Surendran slapping charges under CrPC 151 and IPC 353. As part of the protest, BJP workers would block vehicles on all state highways. Late at night, devotees began Namajapa protest in front of Chittar police station where Surendran is being housed. A scuffle ensued, and the police forced Surendran and the others into a police vehicle and took them to Chittaar police station about 50 km away from Sabarimala.
Along with Surendran, BJP Thrissur district president A Nagesh and two other BJP activists were also arrested by police. Surendran and the three men had irrumudi kettu (holy offerings) and proper pre-booked passes for darshan.
“It is my fundamental right. I’ll go even if you open fire, “Surendran told the police, there was a fight, and police forced Surendran and the others into a police vehicle and drove them to the Chittaar police station, about 50 kilometers from Sabarimala.
The arrests prompted BJP to convene a “protest day” on Sunday. As part of the protest, BJP workers would block vehicles on all state highways. “Now, the situation in Sabarimala has become dangerous. The seriousness of the problem has been communicated to the interior minister of the Union, Rajnath Singh, “said BJP State President P S Sreedharan Pillai.
The communist government is implementing its party’s secret agenda at Sabarimala. As part of it, they are not providing proper sanitary systems. Lack of water availability in toilets is the major issue now pilgrims are facing at Sabarimala.
The devasam board and the ministry are big failures in this pilgrimage season, devotees are not able to stay overnight at Sabarimala and they are not able to do the morning offering of ghee offering.
The left government made the shrine as a police camp. This season police started using shoes at the shrine is one of the reasons to reduce the brightness of holy hills.
