The government had set an agenda to implement at Sabarimala, but this not the place to do whatever it is. Last month a guru-swami had left his life in front of a running train to save the customs and tradition at Sabarimala. Now one more set himself on fire to save Sabarimala.
Venugopalan Nair, an ayyappa devotee was living at Thiruvananthapuram had left his life for to save Sabarimala.
The man who had commit suicide in the protest venue of the BJP near the secretariat is an ayyappa devotee, who was really sad about police act at Sabarimala.
He had taken an extreme step in protest against the double stand of the left government on the Sabarimala issue and the government’s irresponsible approach towards the police act at Sannidanam.
The government has not been able to provide necessary security to the BJP leaders and the suicide attempt is an example for it, he said.
Venugopalan Nair, a native of Muttada, who committed suicide today morning at 2. am; in the Trivandrum city is a regular visitor of Sabrarimala Ayyappa temple.
According to an eye witnesses, that after dousing petrol on his body, he set himself on fire and then move into the protest venue in front of the secretariat.
Police and BJP activists jointly doused the fire and rushed him to the medical college hospital. A staunch Ayyappa devotee took the extreme step against government’s attitude. While he set himself on fire he was chanting Ayyappa prayers.
