The Nair Service Society (NSS) has determined not to attend the Pinarayi initiated conference of “progressive social organizations” to discuss the difficulty of entry young women to Sabarimala.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is scheduled to chair the meeting to be controlled within the Cooperative Bhavan auditorium at Jagathy in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
NSS executive committee member and president of the Thiruvananthapuram Taluk Union, M. Sangeeth Kumar, told The Hindu that “nobody would be attending”.
An official informed the govt. had received no official communication from the NSS. The organization had opposed the entry of young women between the age of ten and fifty to Sabarimala from the very outset.
The NSS had appeared as an opposing party within the case. it’s presently filed a review petition requesting the Supreme Court to reconsider its call on September twenty-eight permitting young women, regardless of their age, to worship at the temple.
The decision of the NSS to stay away from the crucial meeting was wide taken as a setback for the Government’s try to compile a consensus view on the religiously sensitive issue.
