Kerala jail has ties up with Swiggy to deliver food throughout the state.

The delicious Kerala food is very famous all over the world. Be it the traditional chicken curry, fish curry, dum biryani, idiyappam with mutton stew or the iconic tapioca-fish curry.

Now, these delicious foods are being cooked by the inmates and the delivery will be done by Swiggy.

The first stage of this venture going to be started with Central Prison, Viyyur in Thrissur district of Kerala. The online menu will have chicken biryani combo, served in a banana leaf.

Food has been prepared in a very hygiene place to keep the quality high and all necessary food safety precaution will be taken place to assure the quality standards.

Kerala jail inmates have been preparing chapati-chicken and doing delivery through the jail counter at an affordable price, since years. Now the online services will reach a wider consumer base with Swiggy.

Right from cooking to packing, the whole work will be carried out by the inmates of Kerala Prison. In a bid to build the public service message of being eco-friendly, the food parcel is delivered in paper bags made by jail inmates as well.

The jail food pack includes 300 gm of biryani rice, a chicken leg piece, four chapatis, chicken curry, salad, pickle, and water.

All the listed items come for Rs 127 only. The online buyer will also have the option to excess the water bottle, which would bring down the cost of the combo to Rs 117.

Initially, the delivery will be available only in Thrissur city. The online food project was launched on Thursday in the presence of Jail Superintendent NS Nirmalandan Nair and other officers.

Officials from the food safety department were visited and given the quality and safety instructions.

The online startup was an instant hit as prison delivery system had to close the listing from Swiggy in 20 minutes due to over order.
