The inaugural flight Air India express IX 715 flagged off at 10:06 a.m.

State Ministry of Commerce and industry E.P. Jayarajan, Ministers Ramachandran Kadannappally, A.K. Saseenran, K.K. Shylaja, E. Chandrashekharan, and Mr. Jayarajan were present.

The Chief Minister, Civil Aviation Minister and other Ministers jointly lit the traditional lamp at the departure hall before the flag off. Kannur International airport Ltd. director V. Thulasidas and Civil Aviation Secretary Kamal Nayan Choubey, State police chief Loknath Behera have also been a gift at the inaugural function.
