Kerala government had approached the High Court to get more time for implementing the Supreme Court order at Piravam Chruch. Advocate general, on behalf of the government, had informed the court that police have been trying to implement the court order but the protesters are not allowing. AG asked for more time until the issue solved in a peaceful meeting.
AG added this case is not similar to Sabarimala to implement 144 at Piravama and allowing Orthodox believers to get into the church. Here the government is trying to implement the SC order with the mutual concern of both parties
The government approach towards both cases seems to be one is in the favor of a community and another one is for their political benefits. In a secular state, the double strand of the government is not ideal for a republic nation.
Protesters created a tense situation at Piravom Church.
More than 400 people gathered to protest at Piravom Church and stopped the police from doing their duty. Some had attempted to do suicide as well. But no case has been registered against any of them yet. But about Sabarimala issue, more than 4000 cases has been registered against a devotee including women who does chanting prayers at road and Sannidanam.
