The Party-state committee had not enough power to transfigure Pinarayi’s decision to hold off KK Shailaja from the following cabinet since it had planned to create a new face-ministry. The committee decided to go with 12 ministers from CPIM, including Vijayan’s son-in-law, Mohammad Riyaz.
About a year after bonding with Vijayan’s family, Riyaz is on the latest ministerial appointment list announced on Tuesday. A reliable source said that he would take care of the tourism portfolio.
KK Shailaja was the foremost face of the previous LDF government and a minister who gained international media attention for her work during the pandemic. It did not allow her to remain in the new cabinet. However, abrupt news awaited the public.
The exclusion of KK Shailaja has sparked widespread outrage. A few actors have also shown their political insight in her favour. Actress and activist Rima Kallingal is one of them to highlight.
According to Congress leader Sasi Tharoor, it is unfortunate that KK Shailaja, who served as health minister in the previous LDF government and won a record majority in the assembly, was left out of the new cabinet.
Geethu Mohandas, a voguish Mollywood actress, has also posted on social media showing her solidarity for KK Shailaja. Mala Parvathy took issue with the fact that KK Shailaja was excluded.
